About Me

Hi, my name is Dr Rebecca Chau (she/her). I am a clinical psychologist based in Perth, Western Australia. I provide assessment and treatment for adults who wish to improve their mental health – and the quality of their lives.

I am a cognitive and behavioural therapist, and I offer Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). These evidence-based therapies are used for a wide range of symptoms and difficulties, including depression, anxiety, insomnia, relationship problems, eating disorders, as well as difficulties regulating emotions (i.e., with Borderline Personality Disorder, or Emotionally UnstablePersonality Disorder). Following assessment, I work collaboratively with individuals to figure out which treatment fits best.

Please note that I do not currently see couples or individuals under the age of 18.

My Qualification Statement

I am a fully registered Psychologist (with clinical endorsement) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA; registration number PSY0001899768). I am currently in private practice as a sole practitioner. I have completed a Graduate and Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from the University of Melbourne (this is equivalent to a Psychology degree with honours). I have also completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Monash University, Melbourne. My Doctorate examined the risk factors for depression among older adults, and my research is published in academic journals.

I have experience facilitating DBT and CBT group therapy programs in the private hospital setting. I have experience conducting individual and group DBT in the public mental health system (Victoria). I have trained in CBT, DBT, and Schema Therapy, and am currently training in the treatment of eating disorders. I am a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
